Black currants are vigorous, cold-hardy fruiting shrubs valued for their glossy, deep purple to black berries with a rich, tart flavor. Widely used for jams, syrups, juices, and baking, the fruit is highly aromatic and nutrient-rich. Spring flowers support pollinators, while the dense shrub form works well in edible landscapes.
