A native North American tree valued for its adaptability and wildlife benefits. In spring, it produces clusters of small white flowers, followed by dark purple-black cherries that ripen in late summer and attract birds and other wildlife. The glossy green foliage turns shades of yellow to red in fall. Known for its straight trunk and high-quality wood, it is also an important timber species.
