Purple-flowering raspberry is a hardy, deciduous native shrub grown more for its showy pink-purple summer flowers than for fruit. Large, soft green leaves give it a lush, woodland look, while the open, thicket-forming habit makes it ideal for naturalized plantings. Small, raspberry-like fruits may follow but are lightly flavored and secondary to the ornamental appeal.
