Female Japanese skimmia is a compact, broadleaf evergreen grown for its glossy dark green foliage, fragrant spring flowers, and showy red berries in fall and winter. Female plants produce berries when a male skimmia is nearby for pollination. This shade-loving shrub is excellent for foundation plantings, woodland gardens, and winter interest.
